MICHELE SHERMAN

Michele Sherman is the granddaughter of Nat Sherman, and one of three, third-generation grandchildren managing the global enterprises of Nat Sherman International. She started working at an early age in the retail store, and was exposed to all facets of the industry – from seed to sale, learning about the business from her Dad, Joel. Michele, known throughout the industry, is often called upon to give her perspective on women in the tobacco business.

After receiving her BA in 1987, Michele worked outside the family business in a number of different disciplines including sales at an independent industry distributor, and in communications in retail-oriented organizations. Joining Nat Sherman after receiving her Master’s in Education in 1993, Michele worked in national and international sales as well as in merchandising in their flagship retail townhouse, now at 12 East 42nd Street.

Michele divides her time in the business between the New York flagship store and the corporate headquarters in Fort Lee where she leads the work on the new charitable foundation strategy. Her brothers focus on leading the current national and international core business and developing expansion strategies. The Shermans have introduced a number of new cigar collections just in the last year, and are exploring international opportunities. They were exceptionally proud that their new Timeless Cigar No. 2 was named one of the top 10 cigars of 2012 by the editors of the prestigious, Cigar Aficionado Magazine.

Nat Sherman Timeless Collection – The Nat Sherman Timeless Collection is made up of two unique blends from two different countries by two wonderful manufacturers. The Timeless Collection represents a new look and feel for the Nat Sherman Premium Cigar portfolio. The new band, box and artwork are in keeping with the new style and flavor. The Timeless Collection was the direct result of feedback from retailers as well as consumers, who participated in the tasting and sampling process in order to develop these two unique products.“The blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos combine for solid notes of cedar and espresso, along with hints of dark chocolate and nutmeg.”

MICHAEL GILL CELLARS

Producing up to 1,000 cases when in full production, Michael Gill Cellars strives to stay at a smaller scale to keep as much consistency, control, and excellence in the wine as possible.

From the limestone-rich soils to the hot days and cool nights, Michael Gill Cellars has the perfect growing conditions to elegantly ripen such Rhone-style varietals as Syrah, Viognier, and Counoise. As a family vineyard, the vines receive the utmost care from founder Michael Gill, as well as other members of the family, to ensure both proper care and quality from the vine to the bottle.

The 2012 harvest will be a special one as we expect a full output from our newest varietals: Zinfandel, Primitivo, Tannat, and Tempranillo, which we in turn will generate even more exquisite wines for the tasting room for years to come.
